Coconut oil, also known as copra oil, is produced by the Ukrainian brand Flora Secret. It is extracted from the meat or kernel of mature coconuts. Coconut oil is known as is a universal beauty product which is widely used for hair and skin care.
Composition. Coconut oil is so highly valued because it is rich in nutrients. The oil contains lauric, myristic, palmitic, capric, caprylic, oleic, stearic, caproic, linoleic and hexadecenoic fatty acids, vitamins A, B1, B2, C, E and K, iron, calcium and phosphorus. Because of the high content of antioxidants in the composition of the coconut oil, it is slow to oxidise and, thus, resistant to rancidification. It can be stored up to six months at room temperature.
Properties and use. As it has already been mentioned, coconut oil is a universal cosmetic product. Pure coconut oil is used to protect the skin against harmful environmental factors (low temperatures, wind, UV radiation), to cope with skin dryness, irritation and flaking, to nourish and restore the skin and hair.
Directions. The oil can be applied as is or mixed with other carrier oils. It can be used to dilute essential oils or to enrich creams and other cosmetics.
