Carmex Lip Balm for Effective Lip Care

Carmex Lip Balm Dry and chapped lips, cold sores and angular cheilitis (inflammation of one or both corners of the mouth) are common problems that millions of people experience on a daily basis. The easiest way to solve them is to buy medicated lip balm that speeds up the healing and helps to keep the lips hydrated. Carmex lip balm is one of the most popular brands of medicated lip balm.

Carmex lip balm is produced by Carma Laboratories, a Wisconsin-based company founded in the early 1930s by Alfred Woelbing. Woelbing suffered from cold sores so originally he created medicated lip balm for himself and then began to sell it in the old fashioned way from the trunk of his car. For years, Woelbing made his product on the stove top in his kitchen and poured it into the now-classic yellow-capped jars.

Popularity of Woelbing’s lip balm grew through word-of-mouth. In 1957, he moved the family business into a rented facility in Wauwatosa. 15 years later, a new production facility was built in Franklin. Carma Labs began producing the lip balm in squeezable tubes in 1988 and in stick form in 1989.

Since its inception, Carmex has become one of the most popular brands of lip balm in the United States. It is also available throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa. Today, the brand offers several product lines such as Classic, Comfort Care, Daily Care, and Cold Sore Treatment. Along with unflavoured product, there is a wide selection of lip balms with different flavours, including Mixed Berry, Sugar Plum, Watermelon Blast, Strawberry, Fresh Cherry, Wintergreen, Tropical Colada, and Winter Mint.

Key ingredients contained in Carmex lip balm are camphor, menthol, phenol, salicylic acid, benzocaine, lanolin, petrolatum, paraffin wax, beeswax, and cocoa butter. The formula varies slightly around the world because the use of phenol in cosmetics is prohibited in some countries.

Salycilic acid is an anti-inflammatory ingredient that neutralises bacteria, stimulates skin cell regeneration, and speeds up the healing of cracked lips. Camphor and menthol are external analgesics. They soothe the lips and produce an antiseptic effect. Lanolin, petrolatum, beeswax and cocoa butter have moisturising and nourishing properties. They make the lips softer and smoother, help to lock in moisture, and protect the skin from harmful environmental factors.

Some of Carmex lip balms contain sun protection filters (SPF). Oxybenzone and octinoxate are organic compounds that absorb ultraviolet rays from the sun and protect the skin from damage caused by sunlight exposure. Octinoxate absorbs UVB rays, while oxybenzone provides broad-spectrum ultraviolet coverage, including UVB and short-wave UVA rays.

Medicated lip balm by Carmex should be applied no more than 3 to 4 times a day due to its high content of active ingredients. Non-medicated lip balm should be re-applied at least every 2 hours. If you use lip balm with SPF, apply it 15 minutes before sun exposure.

With Carmex lip balms, you will forget about dry and chapped lips, cold sores, and other problems. Your lips will always be soft, smooth and supple.
