African black soap is a kind of soap originating in West Africa and made from ash of locally harvested plants (plantains skins, cocoa pods, palm tree leaves, shea tree bark), which gives the soap its characteristic colour. Black soap has become a popular skincare product around the world due to its excellent cleansing properties. It easily removes dirt, grime and excess sebum, unclogs and tightens pores, and helps to prevent blackheads and acne. Black soap can even be used to treat skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

A key active ingredient contained in African black soap by Cocos is charcoal. Charcoal is a strong natural absorbent that actively cleans the skin, exfoliates dead epidermal cells, helps to get rid of toxins, stimulates skin cell renewal, and normalises sebum secretion, keeping the skin look and feel fresh for longer.

Other active ingredients contained in the soap are shea butter, aloe vera extract, and rosewood oil. Shea butter is a rich source of essential fatty acids and other nutrients. It softens the skin, helps to lock in moisture, and makes the skin smooth and supple. Aloe vera extract is valued for its moisturising, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and healing properties. It keeps the skin hydrated, prevents acne scars, and accelerates the healing of minor skin injuries. Finally, rosewood oil gives the soap a light floral sent and enhances its antiseptic effect.

Directions. Lather, apply to damp skin, massage, rinse thoroughly.
