Its formulation is based on lanolin, beeswax and cocoa butter. The product also contains natural stevia (candyleaf) extract, meadowfoam seed oil, and sun protection ingredients (oxybenzone and octinoxate).

    Lanolin, beeswax and cocoa butter make up the product’s soft base. Due to its texture, the lip balm glides on smoothly to nourish, hydrate and protect the lips. In addition, it makes chapped lips heal faster, helps to protect them from harmful environmental factors, and makes the lips super soft and supple.

    Meadowfoam seed oil is widely used in cosmetics due to its emollient effect and high stability. It stimulates skin regeneration and helps to prevent dry and flaky lips. The oil absorbs well and doesn’t leave the lips feeling greasy or sticky. Stevia extract soothes the lips, boosts skin firmness and elasticity, and makes the lips smoother.

    Directions. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply at least every 2 hours, after 80 minutes of swimming of sweating, or immediately after towel drying. For external use only.

  • Carmex (USA)

    Carmex is a popular brand of lip balms, owned and produced by the American company Carma Labs Inc. Founded by Alfred Woelbing, Carma Labs Inc. is based in Franklin, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.

    Alfred Woelbing started making lip balms by hand in 1937. He poured the medicated lip balm into jars in his kitchen and then visited pharmacies one by one to sell his product. Woelbing created the now-classic Carmex recipe in an attempt to treat his cold sores.

    The operation grew continuously, the only exception being the period during WWII when the Army bought up lanolin to grease equipment. In 1957, Woelbing realized that the business had become too big for his kitchen and moved the production to Wauwatosa. Carma Labs outgrew this facility in the 1970s and moved to its present factory location in Franklin. In 1980, the company made its first significant packaging change and started producing lip balms in squeezable tubes.

    Carmex eventually became popular all over the United States. By 2000, it had became available in all 50 states. Carma Labs introduced new flavours and product lines such as classic lib balm with cherry and strawberry flavours, Carmex Cold Sore Treatment, Carmex Comfort Care, and Carmex Daily Care.

    1. I'm a big fan of Carmex Medicated Cherry Sticks, but apparently they've been discontinued so I switched to tube. Not my favorite consistency, but it works well. Makes by chapped lips soft and smooth in a matter of days. And the flavor is very good, I'm addicted.
