Carmex is a true legend among lip balms. Carmex Classic Lip Balm Medicated Jar belongs to the brand’s classic (original) line. It is based on the same formula as the original lip balm created by Alfred Woelbing in 1937. The product contains lanolin, beeswax, cocoa butter, camphor, white petrolatum, and menthol.
Lanolin, petrolatum, beeswax and cocoa butter take care of the lips and protect them from harmful environmental factors. These ingredients effectively nourish the lips, make them softer and smoother, keep the skin hydrated, and stimulate skin regeneration and renewal.
Camphor and menthol contained in the lip balm relieve cracked lips, soothe the skin, and produce an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect.

Carmex (USA)Carmex is a popular brand of lip balms, owned and produced by the American company Carma Labs Inc. Founded by Alfred Woelbing, Carma Labs Inc. is based in Franklin, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
Alfred Woelbing started making lip balms by hand in 1937. He poured the medicated lip balm into jars in his kitchen and then visited pharmacies one by one to sell his product. Woelbing created the now-classic Carmex recipe in an attempt to treat his cold sores.
The operation grew continuously, the only exception being the period during WWII when the Army bought up lanolin to grease equipment. In 1957, Woelbing realized that the business had become too big for his kitchen and moved the production to Wauwatosa. Carma Labs outgrew this facility in the 1970s and moved to its present factory location in Franklin. In 1980, the company made its first significant packaging change and started producing lip balms in squeezable tubes.
Carmex eventually became popular all over the United States. By 2000, it had became available in all 50 states. Carma Labs introduced new flavours and product lines such as classic lib balm with cherry and strawberry flavours, Carmex Cold Sore Treatment, Carmex Comfort Care, and Carmex Daily Care.
