Jojoba oil is expressed from the edible seeds of the jojoba plant native to southern California, southern Arizona, and northwestern Mexico. Although it visually appears to be a regular oil, it is actually a plant wax. Jojoba oil is mostly made up of 11-Eicosenoic acid, a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid similar to oleic acid.
Jojoba oil is found in many cosmetic products due to its moisturising and emollient properties. The pure oil itself may also be used on skin and hair. It intensively hydrates and nourishes the skin, making it soft and smooth. Jojoba oil is rich in tocopherol (vitamin E) that has strong antioxidant properties.
