Despite its name, neutral henna does not have anything in common with the henna hair dye. Regular henna is derived from the plant Lawsonia inermis, while neutral henna is derived from Cassia obovata/Senna italica, commonly known as Italian senna or Senegal senna. The latter has long been used in India as a natural hair remedy.
Dried and powdered neutral henna leaves are mixed with water or carrier oils and applied to the hair as a strengthening hair mask. This mixture helps to restore the natural elasticity, flexibility, volume and shine of the hair, prevents hair breakage and split ends, as well as eliminates dandruff and relieves itching when applied to the scalp.
The effect of neutral henna in Mayur’s herbal hair mask is complemented and enhanced by Indian herbs: amla, shikakai, neem, and soapnut (reetha). Amla, also known as Indian gooseberry, has long been used as a hair strengthening remedy. Due to its high vitamin C content, amla produces an antioxidant effect and neutralises the harmful effects of free radicals on the hair and scalp.
Neem is a powerful natural antiseptic. It inhibits the growth of dandruff-causing bacteria and fungi, soothes the scalp, and stimulates and growth. Finally, shikakai and reetha are valued for their high content of saponins. Saponins are natural surfactants that gently cleanse the hair and scalp without upsetting their natural pH level or causing dehydration.
Neutral henna produced by Mayur is a 100% natural product free of artificial fragrances, preservatives or sulphates.
Directions. Mix 1 part neutral henna and 3 parts water to get a paste. Apply to dry hair and spread evenly from root to tip. Put on a shower cap and wrap your head in a towel. In 60 minutes or more, rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Precautions. Before the first use, make sure to do a sensitivity test. Mix a small amount of powder with water and apply the mixture to the inside of your wrist or elbow. If no reaction occurs within 24 hours, the product is safe to use. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
