To get rid of dandruff once and for all, you need to eliminate its cause. There are different types of dandruff, but most often it is caused by Pityrosporum ovale, also known as Malassezia furfur, a species of fungus that naturally occurs on the skin surface and is associated with seborrhoeic dermatitis. Fungicidal effect. Selenium disulphide inhibits the growth of dandruff-causing fungi and relieves symptoms associated with dandruff such as itchy and flaky scalp.
Keratolytic effect. Keratolytic agents soften keratin (a major component of the skin) and cause the outer layer of the skin to loosen and shed. In other word, selenium disulphide helps to get rid of dead epidermal cells and prevents the recurrence of dandruff.

Directions. Apply to wet hair and lather. Gently massage the scalp at hair roots, leave the shampoo for 3 minutes, then rinse it thoroughly with warm running water. Repeat if necessary.
