Almond oil is expressed from the edible seeds of the almond tree native to the Mediterranean. It can be obtained from either sweet or bitter almonds, but sweet almond oil is more common. Sweet almond oil is composed of monounsaturated oleic acid, polyunsaturated linoleic acid, and saturated palmitic acid. The oil is valued for its high content of vitamin E (tocopherol).
Tocopherol is a natural antioxidant, therefore sweet almond oil has pronounced anti-age properties.
