  Manjistha (majith, tamaralli, manditti) powder is obtained from the plant Rubia cordifolia (Indian madder). It is a flowering plant in the coffee family that has been cultivated for centuries as a source of red pigment derived from its roots.

  The roots of Indian madder are also used in Ayurveda, where the plant is commonly known as manjistha. Manjistha powder is mostly valued for its immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties.

  When used for skin care, manjistha boosts the skin’s natural protection, stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis in the epidermis, helps to get rid of toxins, relieves inflammation and swelling, prevents premature skin ageing, improves skin elasticity and complexion. In addition, it has a whitening effect. Manjistha powder helps combat pigmentation (including freckles and acne scars) and evens out skin tone.

  You can also use the product to take care of your hair. Homemade hair masks with manjistha powder strengthen hair roots, promote hair growth, prevent brittle hair, repair damaged hair structure, and stimulate microcirculation in the scalp, improving the nourishment of hair follicles.

  Directions. Mix 1 tsp powder with warm water to get a smooth paste. Apply to your skin or hair. Leave for 15–20 minutes, rinse with warm water. Apply skin toner and moisturiser.
  To make a manjistha decoction, put 1 tbsp powder into 500 ml water, bring to a boil, let simmer for 3 minutes. Let steep for 3 to 5 hours, strain before use.
  To make a manjistha infusion, pour 500 ml warm water over 1 tbsp manjistha powder, leave overnight. Strain before use.
  You can use manjistha decoction or infusion to wash or wipe your face, or as a hair rinse.
  Conduct sensitivity test before use. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water.
