100% natural lotus powder is produced by Triuga (Ukraine), a manufacturer of Ayurveda-inspired products. It is an effective product for regular skin and hair care. The powder doesn’t contain any additives and can be used as an active ingredient of various DIY cosmetic products for at-home use.
Lotus powder is produced from the plant Nelumbo nucifera, commonly known as sacred lotus, Indian lotus or simply lotus. It is an aquatic plant native to the Indian Subcontinent, which has a wide distribution through Indochina and East Asia. Lotus is the national flower of India and Vietnam.
The rhizomes (rootstalks) of lotus are consumed as a vegetable in China, Japan, and other Asian countries. In addition, rhizomes and other parts of the plant (seeds, leaves, stalks) have been used in various folk medicine systems, including Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, for centuries. Due to its high content of biologically active substances, lotus powder is an effective skin and hair care ingredient.
When used as a skincare product, lotus powder is valued for its softening, soothing and moisturising properties. It boosts the skin’s elasticity and firmness, helps to unclog and tighten pores, normalises sebum secretion, produces a deep skin cleansing effect, and prevents skin redness and breakouts.
Lotus powder is also effective as a hair care product. It strengthens the hair from root to tip, prevents split ends, makes the hair more manageable, and restores its softness and healthy shine. This powder is especially great for oily hair because it normalises sebum secretion in the scalp and helps to keep the hair feeling and looking fresh for longer. In addition, it boosts the hair’s protection from the environment.
Directions. Mix 1 tsp powder with warm water to get a smooth paste. Apply to your skin or hair. Leave for 15–20 minutes, rinse with warm water. Follow up with skin toner and moisturiser.
