Vijayasar powder is obtained from the plant Pterocarpus marsupium, also known as Indian kino tree or Malabar kino. It is a medium to large, deciduous tree native to India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. Heartwood, flowers and leaves of the Indian kino tree have long been used in Ayurveda because of their medicinal properties.
When used as a skin care product, vijayasar powder prevents premature skin ageing and gives the skin a healthy glow that lasts all day. As a hair care product, it strengthens hair roots, reduces hair loss, provides hair follicles and scalp with essential nutrients, helps to lock in moisture, prevents brittle hair and split ends, and makes the hair stronger and shinier.

Directions. Mix 1 tsp powder with warm water to get a smooth paste. Apply to your skin or hair. Leave for 15–20 minutes, rinse with warm water. Apply skin toner and moisturiser.
To make a vijayasar decoction, put 1 tbsp powder into 500 ml water, bring to a boil, let simmer for 3 minutes. Let steep for 3 to 5 hours, strain before use.
To make a vijayasar infusion, pour 500 ml warm water over 1 tbsp vijayasar powder, leave overnight. Strain before use.
You can use vijayasar decoction or infusion to wash or wipe your face, or as a hair rinse.
Conduct sensitivity test before use. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water.
