Reetha (washnut) powder is a 100% natural and universal surfactant that has excellent cleansing properties. The powder moisturises, nourishes and protects the hair and scalp, as well as helps to get rid of dandruff and relieves itchy and flaky scalp due to its antibacterial and antiseptic properties.
Reetha, also known as washnut or Indian soapberry, has long been used in India and Nepal as a cleanser for skin, hair and clothing. Today, many manufacturers of natural and organic cosmetics use it to create safe and effective shampoos, shower gels and other cleansing products.
Washnut is rich in saponin, a chemical compound that has surfactant properties. While saponins don’t produce as much lather as sulfates, they are just as effective. Washnut cleanses hair and skin very delicately and doesn’t dry them out. It also helps to maintain the natural pH and hydro-lipid balance of the skin.
When used regularly, reetha powder has a great effect on the hair and scalp. It makes the hair tamer and shinier, reduces hair loss, and stimulates hair growth. Directions. Mix some powder with warm water and stir to form a moderately thick paste. Apply to hair and skin, massage, leave for 5–10 minutes, rinse with warm water.
